英語日記入門（３）情景描写をしよう

It was a wonderful concert.

出来事を並べて、自分の気持ちを書いて、次に情景描写をしたら、かなり読み応えのある英語日記が書けます。

その天気のことを書こう

天気のことを書くときに "The weather was ～" と表現する方法もありますが、日記を書くなら、"It was ～”で表現したほうがカジュアルでいいでしょう。

It was a nice, sunny day.

とても素敵ないい天気でした。  

It was windy all day.

一日中風が強かったです。 

It was very hot and humid.

とても暑くてじめじめしていました。 

It rained in the morning.

朝は雨が降りました。 

It rained all night, but in the morning the sky was clear.

夜は雨でしたが、朝は空は快晴でした。

 
It stopped snowing at noon. 

昼に雪がやみました。 

A typhoon hit the Okinawa region last night.

沖縄地方に台風が直撃しました。

目に見えたものを表現しよう

「～があった」「～がいた」と言いたい時は "There was～" や "There were～" mと表現しましょう。"～was there" "～were there"

There were lots of children at the toy section.

おもちゃ売り場には子供が大勢いました。 

There were all kinds of tropical fishes.

いろんな熱帯魚がありました。 

There were a lot of food and drinks.

たくさんの食べ物や飲み物がありました。 

There was a big statue of Pokemon.

大きなポケモンの像ありました。 

My cousins Akio and Yuna were there, too.

従兄弟の昭雄と由奈もいました。 

The mayor was there.

市長もお見えでした。

"It was～"で様子を表現する

天気意外にも「～だった」と五感じたことを "It was～" で表現できます。複数形だと "They were～" を使います。

It was very crowded.

とても混んでいました。 

It was a lot of fun.

とても楽しかった。 

It was very noisy in the lobby.

ロビーはとてもうるさかったです。 

It was very cool inside. 

中はとても涼しかった。 

It was a wonderful concert.

とてもすてきなコンサートでした。 

They were inexpensive and delicious.

安くて美味しかったです。

「～していた」と表現してみよう

普段受動態で表現している「～されてた」は主語の "They + 過去形" で表現できます。

They had a sale.

セールでした。

 
They gave us a free sample.

無料サンプルをくれました。 

They had a concert at the outdoor stage.

外のステージではコンサートが行われていました。

 
They sold all kinds of ice cream.

いろいろなアイスクリームが売られていました。

仕上げ

これらの要素を前回の日記に加えてみましょう。

I went to Mihama with my friend Kei.　It was a nice and sunny day. First, we went to A&W. We had hamburgers and root beer. They were very inexpensive and delicious.　Next, we played games at the game center. There was a big statue of Pokemon. I won a One-Piece keychain. I was so happy. Kei did not win anything. Then, we went to the home center to see fishes. There were all kinds of tropical fishes. The fishes were very pretty but expensive. Later, we saw a street musician. He was singing. Everyone loved his music. It was a wonderful concert. Finally, we went home at 5. I was a little tired but I had fun. I want to buy some tropical fish some day. Next month, we are going go to Okinawa City.

かなりいいdiaryになりました。しかし、大きな塊になって読みにくいですね。段落に分けてみましょう。

I went to Mihama with my friend Kei.　It was a nice and sunny day. 

First, we went to A&W. We had hamburgers and root beer. They were very inexpensive and delicious.　Next, we played games at the game center. There was a big statue of Pokemon. I won a One-Piece keychain. I was so happy. Kei did not win anything.

Then, we went to the home center to see fishes. There were all kinds of tropical fishes. The fishes were very pretty but expensive. Later, we saw a street musician. He was singing. Everyone loved his music. It was a wonderful concert. Finally, we went home at 5.

I was a little tired but I had fun. I want to buy some tropical fish some day. Next month, we are going go to Okinawa City

これで少し読みやすくなりました。書きはじめの頃はあまり「接続語」は気にせずに、センテンスを並べるだけでいいです。来月、複文の書き方を説明します。

ちなみに、最初に書いたdiaryはこんな感じでしたよ：

I went to Mihama with my friend Kei.　First, we went to A&W. We had hamburgers and rootbeer. Next, we played games at the game center. Then, we went to the home center to see fishes. Later, we saw a street musician. He was singing. Finally, we went home at 5.

最初の日記に肉付けをしていってこんなに進化しましたね。
