「熱」「体温」に関する英語表現

I'll take your temperature.

コロナ渦で毎朝体温を測ることが日課になっている方は少なくないと思います。今回は検温、熱、体温に関する英語表現をご紹介します。

「熱」は fever

「熱」は fever と言います。

「熱がある」は have a fever と表現します。「高い熱」は high fever、「微熱」は slight fever 、「熱っぽい」は feverish。

A. Do you have a fever?

B. No, I just have a cough.

A  熱はありますか？

B  いいえ、咳だけです。

A. If you have a fever, you should go home.

B. I just have a slight fever but I am going home before I infect someone.

A. 高熱があるなら、帰ったほうが良い。

B. まだ微熱ですが、人に移す前に帰ります。  

A. How are you feeling?

B. I am still feverish but the pain is gone.

A. 気分はどう？

B. まだ少し熱っぽいけど、痛みは無くなった（=楽になった）。

「体温」は temperature

体温は body temperature と言いますが、日常的には

  所有代名詞 + temperature 

で表現します。

「体温を測る」は take + 所有代名詞 + temperature と言います。日本語では「熱を測る」ということがありますが、英語では常に「体温を測る」です。

A. Have you taken your temperature this morning?

B. Yes, it was 36.2 degrees.

A. 今朝は体温を測りましたか？

B. はい、36度2分でした。

The nurse took my temperature and checked my blood pressure.

ナースが私の体温と血圧を測りました。

※36.2 は "thirty-six point two" と表現します。

「平熱」は average temperature

「平熱」は「平均気温」と同じ average temperature または、normal temperature と言います。

A. My average temperature is 35.7 degrees.

B. That's kind of low.

A. 平熱は 35.7℃なんだ。

B. なんか、低めだね。

体温計は thermometer

英語では「体温計」も「寒暖計」も thermometer と言います。

I will take your temperature with this infrared thermometer.

この赤外線体温計で検温します。

※Thermometer は「テゥ・モー・ミター」と発音すれば、通じます。
