「何か関係があるの？」と英語で質問する

日常会話で「関係がある」「関連している」と英語で表現するときには relate よりは、have to do with を使うのがおすすめです。今回は肯定文、否定文、疑問文の例文もご紹介します。

何か関係がある/何も関係がない

日常会話では「関係がある」は be related to よりも、have to do with と表現します。Have と to の間に次の名詞を加えると意味を変化させることが出来ます。

何か	anything （疑問文で使う）	has/have anything to do with 何か関係があるか？
何も	nothing	has/have nothing to do with 何も関係は無い

肯定文

「関係がある」と肯定する場合は、has/have to do with だけで表現します。

The news conference has to do with the fire that broke out at the chapel.
記者会見はチャペルで発生した火事に関するものです。

The first three chapters of the manual have to do with the new regulations that were implemented in February.
マニュアルの最初の3章は、2月に実施された新しい規則に関するものです。

「何らかの関係がある」と推測する場合は something を加えます。

Hikari said that the director's visit had something to do with the fire at the supermarket last night

理事の来店は昨日のスーパーの火事に何か関係があるらしい、ってヒカリが言ってた。

A. I think this meeting has something to do with the merger.

B. I doubt it. My supervisor said the merger fell through.

A. この会議は合併に何らかの関係があると思う。

B. それはないな。うちの上司が合併は失敗したと言ってた。

疑問文

「（～は）～に何かの関係があるのですか？」と質問するときは次のパターンで表現できます。：

      Do/does + 名詞１ + have anything to do with + 名詞２？

名詞１,２は固有名詞、普通名詞、代名詞を使うことができます。

Does this meeting have anything to do with the shipping delay?
この会議は発送の遅れに関係あるのかな？

名詞１は「今の状況」「ご用件」という意味で this を使うことができます。

A. Hello, I am Officer Hada. May I ask you a few questions?
B. Yes, come in. Does this have anything to do with my son's accident?
A. こんにちは。ハダ巡査と申します。2, 3質問してもよろしいでしょうか？
B. はい、どうぞお入りください。（今日お見えになったのは）息子の事故の件でしょうか？

否定文

「何も関係がない」は nothing を加えて表現します。

Calm down. This has nothing to do with you.

落ち着け。これは君には何の関係もない。

I refuse to get involved. This argument has nothing to do with me.

私は関わるつもりはないです。この言い争いは私には関係ないので。
