「～へ行くところです」と英語で答える

Where are you going? と聞かれたときや、出かけることを人に伝えるときに便利なフレーズをご紹介します。どの表現も be 動詞と組み合わせて使います。また、これらの表現はSNSでよく見かけます。

off to ～

off to は be 動詞と組み合わせて「～へ行ってくる」という意味。行き先や出かける目的を伝えるときに使います。

A. Mom, I'm off to the stationery store.
B. Be back by 7:00.
A. お母さん、文房具屋さんに行ってくる。
B. 7:00 までに帰って来てね。

I'm off to the beauty salon to get a perm.
美容室でパーマかけてくる。

off to の目的語は場所だけではなく、「出かける目的」と組み合わせることができます。

on my way to は「～へ行くところ」という意味で、すでに出かけている人が使う表現です。

Be 動詞と headed to を組み合わせると 「～に向かう」「～を目指す～」 というになります。目的地や進行方向と伝えるときや、移動中に "Where are you?" (今どこ？）と電話で聞かれたときに使います。

マウイ行きのフェリーに乗るために港へ向かっています。

東西南北は headed の後に加えます。
